Death Note

Raito Yagami has finally seen what the death note’s potential is and so decided upon himself that he will play God or some higher being and eliminate people he labels as useless and those who’ve harmed other people. While the intention is sincere and for the betterment of the world and mankind, again the never-ending and universal question - does the end JUSTIFY the mean?

Well, I really don’t intend to go deep to answer this question or to have an explanation regarding my religious beliefs. This just made me stick to the death note anime manga more. I want to be able to see how the story goes on from here that Yagami-kun decided to take it upon himself to clean up the rotten and messy world. Will he succeed in his plans? Won’t his conscience bother him too much that he’ll decide to stop this “passing of judgment?” How will the story unfold and evolve to become something really worth devoting time to read on since it seems to me that it just revolves around killing criminals and “useless” people. No offense to avid fans of Death note anime, I’m still in the first chapter anyway :-P

Well, I’m off to continue reading now. I just hope I can find the time to read its entirety for my questions and confusions to be finally answered. :D

Well if you ask me, I really support Raito’s idea fo changing the world for the better. But he failed because of L’s succesors Near and Mello.
And I was hoping that they make another series of Death Note.. Say maybe the Death Note 2.

Even if you do agree with the idea of a better world, you have to admit that Raito and all the Kira are going about it the wrong way. Who is he to judge who is right and who is wrong? And he’s punishing killers and people who have assaulted others, meaning he’s punishing them by committing the same crime he’s punishing them for! There is no question of the hypocracy in his method, but beyond that, and I quote this not as a piece of religious material, but as a very good lesson to learn, “Do not judge, lest ye be judged yourself.” You must also take into consideration that good and evil aren’t so clearly defined! What if one of those people he punished was coerced into doing what they did to save someone else? And that’s just one of the many hypotheticals that could blur the bold line that Raito seems to have created in his mind.

Kira has the right to decied simply because:
    a) he is the protagonist
    b) he was the one “given” the DEATHNOTE
    and
    c) Kira/Light is, in effect, a new god of death/shinigami - so killing is his new purpose…
also he’s just a manga character so who cares?

@ Ryuk: Who cares? Apparently, some people do. :P

But yeah, let’s not forget that Kira is an anime character, created for entertainment and financial (at least for its creator) purposes, so let’s just watch, enjoy, and learn from the moral conflicts that Deah Note has to offer. And pray it won’t happen in our world. :D

@ Takeda: I don’t know about a Deah Note 2 but there’s this manga called Death Note Zero where another kid gets the death note but this time, it came with an eraser to allow death be undone within the given limited time. You should check it out. :D
