Loving Inuyasha for the first time

By aimee | March 4, 2008

Inuyasha

Rating: ♥♥♥♥

Call me a late bloomer - when it comes to watching animes that is. My Inuyasha addiction just now proves that and I’m ashamed to call myself an avid fan of animes. How and why I shrugged off Inuyasha as some boring anime back when it first came out is beyond me. Perhaps it was because it had been dubbed poorly in my country that just hearing them speak is enough for me to label it with a big BORING and CHEAP sign.

Thoughts on Colorcloud Palace

By aimee | February 17, 2008

Rating: ♥♥♥

I’m currently watching the episodes of Colorcloud Palace as I’ve finally found time amidst work. And I’m really inspired by Kou Shuurei’s character. She is one modern woman whose character cannot be stepped on as she carries with her her weapons of will and determination.

As I watch Colorcloud palace, I can’t help but be glad about how a woman can really make a difference in world dominated by men. The power of women (or in this case Shuurei’s), as portrayed in Colorcloud Palace, is so overwhelming. Colocrcloud Palace has taken the saying that one can make a big difference literally through Shurrei’s character (to the point that it’s already somehow exaggerating). I mean, Shurrei alone was able to change the fate of one nation - the Brown Province - just by being her strong-willed self. But don’t get me wrong. It may have come out as exaggeration for me but it clearly passed the message - that determination is really the key to one’s success. It doesn’t matter if you’re of the male or female species so as long as you are determined to reach your dreams, then you will be able to do so. The geniuses behind Colocloud Palace seem to want to sponsor women empowerment as they chose a heroine to be their lead character. Perhaps they want to make it known that in a patriarchal world, there is still room for women achievers and leaders.

So hail to all women leaders and achievers! May we all continue proving our worth! :D

But I’ll say it again - Colorcloud Palace’s message is clear - determination is the key to one’s success.

I’m so glad that kids nowadays are being exposed to animes or cartoons that sub-consciously teach them something important and valuable to life. :D

Ginban Kaleidoscope is Love

By aimee | January 4, 2008

Rating: ♥♥

If I’m correct, it was in 2005 that Ginban Kaleidoscope was born. This means that I’m less than three years behind knowledge of this fantastic anime. Poor me! Haha! Well, if I remember correctly again, it’s not entirely my fault as in the country where I live, it was only last year 2007 that a certain anime channel decided to air it for anime lovers like myself to enjoy. So yeah, there goes my story of why I hadn’t known it sooner than 2007. Oh well.

For the sake of those who haven’t heard of it yet (though I seriously doubt that), this anime revolves around the story of Sakurano Tazusa and Pete Pumps. Tazusa is a Japanese athlete for the sport of figure skating and considers herself a “10 billion dollar beauty.” Haha! On the other side of the world (literally), Pete Pumps is a Canadian ghost living inside Tazusa’s body. Haha! Okay, he’s only temporarily living in Tazusa’s body for 100 days and after which it’s up to Heaven for him. Pete is a 16-year old aviator in Canada whose job is to do stunts with a plane. This must be the reason why when the plane Pete was on crashed as he was doing his plane stunts, his spirit landed on Tazusa’s body who was at the same time also doing her figure skating program and fell on her butt (well, that was what the series suggested anyway). So there. The two poor creatures had to live with each other for 100 days.

Colorcloud Palace Episode 17: Let Sleeping Dogs Lie

By aimee | December 5, 2007

Rating: ♥♥♥

It had been a cliffhanger episode when Lady Kochou, the top courtesan of the red-light district in Colorcloud Palace, asked Shuurei Ko to visit her and then have her arrested. It was good thing that in this episode it was made clear that Lady Kochou is still on Shuurei’s side of the battle.

I Hate SPOILERS!

By aimee | December 1, 2007

Minutes after I looked for pictures of L of Death Note, I stumbled upon other pictures that spoiled the flow of the story! At least for myself, I’m just in Chapter 11! :(

L the Legend in Death Note

By aimee | December 1, 2007

L

Okay, L has finally revealed himself. This means the real fight begins. Looking at him right now, I can’t help but think and say that he doesn’t really look like the legend that he is is known to be. Let’s see here - a sluggish posture (or not in a straight-back position), messy hairstyle, major eyebags attack, and toes scratching one foot - not your typical private investigator right? His assistant, Watari, looks more like the private investigator way more than he is. But we all know a person shouldn’t be judged by his/her outer appearance. But I just had to say that! LOL! :D

Passing down judgement

Death Note

Raito Yagami has finally seen what the death note’s potential is and so decided upon himself that he will play God or some higher being and eliminate people he labels as useless and those who’ve harmed other people. While the intention is sincere and for the betterment of the world and mankind, again the never-ending and universal question - does the end JUSTIFY the mean?

Death Note | Do you have the courage to write a name?

By aimee | November 21, 2007

A notebook for kiling people in a matter of forty seconds without any way of pinpointing who the killer is. Sounds interesting and very much tempting again for the hatred-filled person. Death Note offers what the Hell Girl offers - vengeance without you having to deal with the matter of killing a human being. Both the Hell Girl and the Shinigami notebook ask for the same price upon deliverance of your vengeance - you will be cursed forever.

Revolution, French Style!

Le Chavelier D'Eon

Le Chevalier D’Eon means D’Eon the Knight for the un-French people (Hehe). This is quite an interesting title for a Japanese anime program, right? But it only suits its name as this anime is loosely based from the historical French figure (be ready for his name) Charles-Geneviève-Louis-Auguste-André-Timothée Éon de Beaumont (now, breathe. LOL! Why they bothered to give him such a loooong name is beyond me). He’s name’s so long I almost forgot what I was trying to say. :-P

But let’s go back to the topic at hand. Le Chevalier D’Eon is loosely based on that historical person I shall not attempt to name again. It may be a bit hard to understand why the Japanese animators behind this program decided to animate the life of D’Eon considering there are a lot of Japanese figures they can use right? That way they could even retell their own history in a interesting way. But D’Eon has such an interesting character and lived in a quite interesting era that it seemed proper to base this anime from his life. There had even been accounts that during his lifetime, D”Eon lived half his life as a man and the remainder as a woman. He was even rumored to have claimed that he is physically a woman, although raised as a man. Talk about gender confusion much.
