Happy-Sad Tears for Flame of Recca

By aimee | June 17, 2008

I guess it’s about time I tell you guys how I felt after I’ve finished Flame of Recca (not that you’re waiting for it). Well, first off, I’ve never imagined that the second season (in the manga) of Flame of Recca would be that big, that serious, and that cool! Oh yeah, I forgot! That funny too! I mean Domon’s fight against Kirin to get the key to open the gate that’ll lead them to where the Tendou Jigoku is, was way hilarious! It was too shameful for Kirin to be defeated that way! LOL! Well, anyway, at least he got what he wanted right? Seems a pervert can be of great use in a battle after all, haha! :D

I have to extend my praises to the creators of Flame of Recca as even though it seemed to be like Yu Yu Hakusho at first, this anime proved itself to be really different in more ways than one. Not only that, Recca was really able to surprise me when he was told that we wasn’t truly a Flame Master and when I got to know what sort of incredible power Resshin (Ouka, his father) holds. I wasn’t really expecting it to be the form of a phoenix, much like Kurei’s, and so came to conclude that this manga’s not the least bit predictable (or maybe it’s just me and my not-so-good predicting powers, hehe).

Flame of Recca

But nevertheless, when I said, ” Recca, surprise me,” he really did and that’s what makes this manga series one of the top in my favorite animes list. I was taken to one hell of a roller coaster ride when I read it - I cried (really I did) as I felt Recca’s and the others’ pain when Yanagi passed away; joy because there’s a way to revive Yanagi as a form of a flame (thus, Flame of Recca, making him truly a Flame Master :D ) and with incredible power at that, Flame of Healing; sadness again as I thought Yanagi was going to be eliminated along with the destruction of the Hokage and its madogous; and lastly, happiness Yanagi was able to go back home, to Recca (awwwwwwwww) :D

Flame of Recca

This was where I was at the peak of my sadness and crying. Hehe.

Recca and Yanagi

And this was where I felt the most happiness. :)

Oh wow, I haven’t read the ending of the manga yet, but reading through your summary, I’m a bit disappointed. Did Yanagi become one of Recca’s flame dragons, and never became human again? :( (As Kurenai was to Kurei, huh.)

…Never mind, I found translations of the manga ending and scanlations of the manga at OneManga :) At least I was encouraged to look up the ending of this well-loved anime of my childhood! ;)

guys you can watch the final burning of Flame of Recca on youtube! and no, Yanagi didnt become one of Recca’s flame dragon, she turn back to be a human again..yes when she died she become a flame power with Recca using Reshin to turn Yanagi into flame and Yanagi help Recca to defeat Tedou jigokou..but then in the end as i remember Yanagi turns into human again. And in the ending a bit disappointed because they all lost their powers and turns into a normal human being again. But still its so wonderful! I love Flame of Recca!^.^

@Lheia: Really, there’s an anime version of the real ending of Flame of Recca? Didn’t know that, thanks, I’ll check it out! But I thought the anime version only lasted until the end of the tournament? Anyway, thanks again for the info! :)
