 The story’s about a hard-working teenage girl who happens to be a man-hater but due to financial problems, ended up in a school that used to be an all-boys high school. It was a school known for having wild male students and since she wanted to change the image of the school, she ran and got voted as the school’s first student council female president. The twist here is that even though she hates boys, she actually works as a maid in a cafe shop, which of course she intends to keep as a secret from the school. But, alas! The boy in the school who every girl is in love with and confesses to accidentally finds out her secret part-time job. And thus, the story begins. Yes, it is a very typical love-hate relationship which ending might be pretty obvious. However, I may be mistaken since the manga is still ongoing. Yeah, major cliffhanger there. Awww.

So, before I give out spoilers, go ahead, visit your fave manga bookstore or manga scanlations sites and look for Maid-sama aka Kaichou wa Maid-sama! I hope you enjoy reading it as much as my best friend and I did!

I believed I was deceived. I thought that this manga is one of those which offers fun and light entertainment to its readers cause its plot talks about a wealthy family whose members turn into the animals of the chinese zodiac. Plus, the setting is in a secondary school which made me think this is one fun anime to put time into. I was disappointed in its anime version when I first watched it since the ending didn’t really talk about how the curse was lifted off the Sohma members unfortunately bestowed with it. This is exactly the reason why I turned into its manga version since I also hold the belief that manga’s are better than anime versions (which of course holds true most of the time). If I’d only known the horror brought by the “too-much-emo-plot” of Fruits Basket manga, I would’ve just gladly be contented with the anime version.

I never expected that I’d finish this anime soon, didn’t know it only had 12 episodes. Hehe. Anyway, I actually finished this a day or two after I posted the one before this. Okay, enough of that, point of the matter is I’ve finished it already. Yey!

On to my experience…

Whoa! That’s really all I can say about Paradise Kiss. Of course I’m kidding. Haha! But that was my initial reaction when things got a little too mature for the children’s eyes. I never thought that Paradise Kiss would hold such maturity and reality that it caught me off guard. It’s no wonder people who don’t really like to watch anime got interested in what Paradise Kiss offered, as it’s obviously not your typical anime. It offered a plot which adults would surely understand and be familiar with - love, lust, difficult decisions, sacrifice, pride - to name a few.

In the meantime, I’ve been finding time to juggle between reading Fruits Basket (already late, I know) and watching Paradise Kiss episodes online. :D  I’ve already heard about Fruits Basket before and I’ve diligently followed the series episode by episode at one time. But since work and other stuff got in the way, I’ve kind of lost interest (sorry). Now, I don’t know why, but I got hooked again when I checked out mangas online for me to read and decided on Fruits Basket. I’m still a long way from finishing the manga but I’ll definitely read this one till the end - I mean, I wanna know the twists and turns of the story, the love triangle between Yuki, Kyo and Tohru, the issue with the Sohma clan, the solution to the curse (if ever there is), and of course, who Tohru ends up with. 

Paradise Kiss, on the other hand, I didn’t really think of watching it but a good friend recommended it and gave it two thumbs up. So, when I was browsing through channels and found it showing in Animax, I found it interesting. I still don’t have much idea on how this story will unfold but with fashion and love included in its seemingly unique plot, it proves itself worthy to watch.

Hopefully, I’de be able to blog about these two animes once I’ve finished them. But don’t count on me finishing these two soon. Hehe.

Ouran Koukou Host Club is so gay that everytime I watch it, I can’t help but be afflicted by the gay bug. And of course, I ain’t talking about the gay sexuality here, although I won’t argue with someone who thinks otherwise. It’s gay in the sense that Ouran has such a happy and light atmosphere, proving itself to be a feel-good anime to watch for those feeling down in the dumps.

Who wouldn’t get out of an unpleasant mood after looking at these hotties, right?

I’ve recently finished watching the anime version of Itazura na Kiss and I couldn’t be happier with the ending.

I thought I already reached the final episode of Itazura na Kiss when another episode suddenly played entitled “Hello Again,” a very appropriate title if you ask me. Hehe! Hello Again showed the family life of the Irie Naoki and Ahaira Kotoko’s family, with their daughter (whose name I already forgot lol).

Their family life was really hilarious! A typical day for the Irie household shows the Mommy and her daughter running around the house so that Mommy could dress her daughter appropriately - yes, very typical, right? But who would have guessed - the daughter is exactly like her Mommy in more ways than one. And when I say more ways than one, I mean Kotoko’s daughter also has the very determination we all loved Kotoko for, and that is to marry Irie Naoki! LOL! Seriously, I would’ve found it creepy in a realistic situation but since this is Itazura na Kiss we’re talking about, I just found it really hilarious! The very least thing I would want my daughter to inherit from me is my romantic love for my husband and I’m sure we all share the same sentiment. Haha! It was a funny sight to see in Itazura na Kiss - mother and daughter fighting for the attention of Irie Naoki. Haha! But I’m sure Kotoko’s daughter didn’t really mean it when she said she’d one day harry her dad, what does a 5-year old child know about marriage anyway, right? I’m sure she just means she’d want to be with her dad forever.

I’ve never really given much thought about watching this when the Taiwanese version was aired for the silly reason that I’m not fond of the actors playing in the drama. Lol! Also, I didn’t know that it was adapted from a manga, if I’d only known, I might have considered watching it.

I’ve only been informed recently that It Started with a Kiss was the adaptation of the manga Itazura na Kiss when I asked my colleagues what Asian dramas are worth watching. When I’ve heard of this, I immediately checked out the manga version but I was utterly disappointed at how the characters were drawn! I’m used to cute and beautifully-drawn anime and manga characters, and let’s just say the manga Itazura na Kiss’ drawing style didn’t appeal to me much (until now). I immediately removed it from my list of mangas to read, I just couldn’t bear looking at it again and again. Haha!

If you’re feeling down and want some light romance to light up your gloomy day, then I’d definitely recommend reading Hanazakari no Kimitachi e or Hana Kimi for short. I’ve had nothing but laughs and giggles when I was reading this manga. Now I know why a Japanese and Taiwanese live version came out - they just had to share to the televiewers the pleasant feelings this manga provides.

This is actually a very late post, I’ve read the manga twice already and  the first time I did, I’ve been meaning to blog about it. The seond time? I just had to blog about it! Lol! Twice I’ve read Hana Kimi and it still gave me reasons to laugh and love it. I also love the way the characters have been drawn, they’re  just so adorably cute - especially for Ashiya Mizuki, Hana Kimi’s heroine. Although I have reason to say that the other male characters seem to look alike - sometimes I just can’t tell them apart! Haha!

On another point, I won’t be able to defend Hana Kimi to those who argue that this is such a gay manga as it really is! Im not against the third sex but I get goosebumps everytime Umeda-sensei’s scene showing him lip-locking with a guy comes up. Haha! So yeah, I’d have to agree to the gayness of Hana Kimi. Although I know it’s one of the reasons why I was hooked. But more importantly, what got me all tied-up is the light and comedic romance between Ashiya Mizuki and her favorite high jumper Sano Izumi. And add in high-spirited Nakatsu Shuichi, we have a winning love triangle! Lol! But I kinda feel sorry for Nakatsu who had to go through a “phase” and then finally embracing his new “sexuality” only to know that he’s been crushing on a girl the whole time. Hehe! How cute of him, right?

I’ve been so addicted to the story (and to Edward Cullen as well) that my initial reaction was to look for images which I could stare at for hours on end (LOL). I was browsing Google Images and I chanced upon an anime drawing of Edward Cullen, and the idea suddenly hit me. Twilight could be easily turned into an anime and the anime world would rejoice for the birth of its anime counterpart, don’t you think? I am both a fan of the story, the movie, and animes so I don’t mind seeing an anime version of Edward Cullen (which perhaps could even be more dazzling given the imaginative hands of animators). But I guess with Robert Pattinson (insert dreamy eyes here lol) playing the role of Edward in the movie, it’ll be hard to animate Edward Cullen without getting critics. However, I still think it will be rather interesting to see how the cast, especially the beautiful vampire family, turn out as anime characters, don’t you think? Of course I’ll be sure to support it if this happens. Just my two cents there.
